Mometasone — sold as Nasonex — is a nasal steroid spray that calms inflammation in the nose. It's a strong alternative to Flonase (fluticasone) for nasal congestion, runny nose, and itchy nose from allergies. Standard dose is 2 sprays in each nostril once daily.

Like other nasal steroids, mometasone works best with daily use. Most patients feel partial relief within 12 hours and reach full benefit after 1–2 weeks.
