Visits & Telehealth
Can I see an allergist online?+
Yes. AllergyCenter offers virtual visits with board-certified allergists in 29 states. Most allergy and asthma evaluations can be completed via telehealth, including reviewing symptoms, prescribing medications, and ordering tests.
How long is a typical visit?+
Initial consultations are 30–45 minutes. Follow-up visits are usually 15–20 minutes. Virtual and in-person visits run the same length.
Do I need a referral?+
For most insurance plans, no referral is required to see an allergist. Some HMO plans require a referral from your primary care doctor — we can verify this when you book.
What happens if I need allergy testing?+
If skin testing is needed, you'll come in for an in-person visit at our Brooklyn clinic or a partner lab in your area. Blood-based IgE testing can be ordered to any major lab nationwide.
Insurance & Cost
Does AllergyCenter accept insurance?+
Yes — we're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Medicare Advantage, and many more. See our full insurance page for the complete list.
How much does a visit cost without insurance?+
Initial virtual consultations start at $199. Follow-ups are $99. We provide transparent pricing before you book — no surprise bills.
Will my insurance cover allergy shots?+
Most insurance plans cover allergy immunotherapy when medically necessary. Coverage details depend on your specific plan — we verify benefits before starting treatment.
Conditions & Treatments
What conditions do you treat?+
We treat the full spectrum of allergic and immunologic conditions: seasonal allergies, food allergies, asthma, chronic hives, eczema, sinusitis, drug allergies, primary immunodeficiencies, mast cell disorders, and more.
Do you treat children?+
Yes. Our providers see pediatric patients as well as adults. Many of our most-treated conditions (eczema, food allergies, asthma) start in childhood.
What is allergy immunotherapy?+
Immunotherapy gradually retrains your immune system to stop reacting to specific allergens. Available as injections (allergy shots) or sublingual tablets/drops. Treatment typically lasts 3–5 years and provides long-term relief.
Can you prescribe biologics like Xolair or Dupixent?+
Yes. Our providers prescribe biologics for chronic urticaria, severe asthma, atopic dermatitis, and eosinophilic conditions. We handle prior authorization with your insurance.
Pollen & Air Quality
How often is the pollen data updated?+
Pollen counts are sourced from Google's Pollen API and updated daily. Air quality data refreshes hourly.
Is the pollen tracker free?+
Yes — completely free. No signup required. Search any US city or zip code.
Clinical Research
How do I enroll in a clinical trial?+
Visit our Clinical Research page to see currently enrolling studies, then contact our research team. We'll do a brief pre-screen to see which studies you might qualify for.
Do I get paid to participate?+
Most studies provide compensation for time and travel, plus all study-related care and medication at no cost. Specific amounts vary by study and visit number.
